Our footprint is made up out of two factors: what we are doing and how many people there are on planet Earth! That’s why we should not have more than one child, because if each couple has only one child the world population will fall by around 50% in only one generation. Then our footprint would reduce too. The future world population is controlled by 2 factors: the current world population and the current fertility rate; the fertility rate worldwide is at 2.47.
Experts say the world population will reach 9 billion by 2050. By 2100 it should fall back to 7 billion; where we are now. This does not sound so good at all, but with your help we could get a little tiny bit closer to a better world; a world in that life on planet Earth is not in danger. People with no children are not included; therefore we would need a fertility rate of under or around 2.3 to have a falling world population.
